From DVOC's Delaware Valley Birds: "Pelagic. 31 Miles east of Barnegat Inlet, NJ – the only North Atlantic record - 1984."

Habitat:
Oceanic.
Range:
Breeds on islands off New Zealand, in the South Pacific Ocean. Only seen between August and November off the west coast during its southbound migration.
History/State Records:
The first and only record for the Atlantic Ocean of Buller's Shearwater, was seen thirty-one miles east of Barnegat Light, New Jersey, on October 28, 1994.
