From DVOC's Delaware Valley Birds: "– Three records: Bombay Hook NWR, DE 1953, Oley, PA 1997, and Lake Ontelaunee, PA 1998."

Habitat:
Lakes, ponds, fields and grassy areas.

Status and Distribution:
Vagrant to the East coast, with most records from eastern Pennsylvania to Newfoundland.

Range:
Greenland, Iceland and Svalbard and winters in North West Europe.

History/State Records:
  • Delaware –
    1 Nov 1953 to 21 Jan, 1954 at Bombay Hook NWR.
  • Pennsylvania –
    27 March to 12 April, 1997 at Gotwals farm in Oley, Berks Co (accepted record);
    7 March, 1998 at Lake Ontelaunee, Berks Co;
    27 Jan to 2 Feb, 2002 in New Hope, Bucks Co.
