2 Departure times 7 a.m. or 10 a.m.

1 Departure place Delaware City, DE at the ferry dock on Clinton St.

7 AM BIRD WALK Assemble in Delaware City at the ferry dock on Clinton St. for a short drive to Ft. Dupont to bird along the river for migrants. We will return to the ferry dock prior to the 10:00 departure to Ft. Delaware. Toilets, coffee, and lunch are available in the stores by the dock.

10 AM DEPARTURE on the 1st ferry to Fort Delaware on Pea Patch Island. If you join us at this point, YOU MUST BE THERE BEFORE 10 AM to buy your $6 ticket.

Pea Patch Is. is one of the largest heron rookeries in the East. We will visit the historic fort, enjoy vistas from its ramparts and interpretive re-enactments. Mostly, we will bird our way to an observation platform overlooking the marsh with the heron, egret and ibis nests. We will return to the fort for either the 12:15 or 2:15 ferry to Ft. Mott in NJ depending on the day’s conditions. Ft. Mott has good woodland/parkland habitat and we’ll bird Ft. Mott until the LAST ferry back to Delaware City at 4:30.

Food is available on Pea Patch Is., however, I advise bringing a snack, lunch and a drink. The observation platform and woodland benches are desirable locations for lunch
