1.The
call - I couldn’t find a call that was
like the call I heard,
which had the quality and tone of the ceow call of the Yellow-billed Cuckoo but was much faster.
2.The
flared tail feathers - On the bird we
initially saw in silhouette, the
tail flared at the tip and I’ve never
seen a photograph of an Eared Trogon with a flared tip and specimens do not show a flare.
3.The
white-spotted outer tail feathers -
When the bird flew across in
front of me, his tail looked liked white
dots separated by dark on the edge of the tail, which is inconsistent with Eared and Elegant Trogons – It was spectacular.
