Bert Filemyr -

Life is good!

"So many places, so many species, so little time."

I was always interested in birds and the natural world but it was not until August 1992 that an event occured that started me on my life's avocation. I was camped with my family in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. A male Western Tanager flew into the campsite, hesitated and flew away. I grabbed my binoculars and started chasing it. I found the bird several campsites down the road. At that point I realized how much I enjoyed the excitement of seeking out and studying birds.

Current birding goal: Seeing at least 100 species in each of the lower 48 states.
