I started birding around 1995, when we moved to birding heaven -- Ithaca, NY. I birded every weekend while working and then daily when I lost my job. Birding spots included Montezuma NWR, Derby Hill and many of Ithaca's state and local parks. We moved to Maryland in 1997, where I birded extensively along the Chesapeake Bay and Bombay Hook, DE. After caring for my Mom until her death in 2012, my birding area is limited, which is one of the main reasons I want to join DVOC. I cannot bird by ear but I consider myself a beginner intermediate birder. Among others, I belong to the Audubon Society, Cornell Lab, Nature Conservency, Ocean Conservency, National Wildlife Federation, National Resources Defense Council.
