Hawkins Road Field Trip
Sunday May 16, 2004 - 6:30AM
The target species at Hawkins Road will be breeding Prothonotary, Worm-eating, Kentucky and Hooded Warblers and grasslands species at Brightview Farm.
From the intersection of Routes 206 and 70 (a traffic circle locally known as Red Lion Circle - there is a diner here), proceed west on Route 70 to the first traffic light at Chairville and turn left onto Skeet Road. Follow Skeet for about one half mile to the first intersection and turn left onto Hawkins Road. Follow Hawkins Road about another half mile to a small bridge where the macadam turns to dirt. This is the meeting place. Park on the right side of the road. If coming from the west on Route 70, make a right onto Skeet and follow the above directions.
Don Jones will provide written directions from Hawkins Road to Brightview Farm (about a 25 minute drive) at Hawkins Road.
YOU SHOULD BRING RUBBER BOOTS IN CASE THE WATER LEVEL IN THE FLOODPLAIN IS HIGH AND WE DECIDE TO USE THIS TRAIL. THERE ARE TICKS SO PREPARE ACCORDINGLY.
Don Jones will be in Arizona from April 30 through May 10 but you can still send an e-mail or call during this period if you plan to attend. Don would like to know how many are coming so he can await your arrival on the road as there are several possible trails the group may take once they enter the woods.
