295 Scenic Overlook, Bordentown
Burlington County, NJ

A pull off on Rte 295, with a good view of the Delaware River south of Trenton.

Though the concentration of gulls is no where near that of Florence, 6 miles to the south, it is possible to see Lesser Black-backed Gulls and Great Cormorants, both more numerous from the fall through early spring. Check the markers.

Of the possible hirundines, Tree, Barn, Rough-winged and Cliff Swallow, it is the later that interests most people. It has bred under the bridge a short distance to the south and should be looked for from the beginning of May through late summer. Black Vultures are becoming more numerous and Bald Eagles can be seen in winter.

Late November begins to see an increase in waterfowl, with Bufflehead, Common Merganser and Common Goldeneye being the most common.

Directions:
From Trenton it is on the southbound lane of Rte 295, approx. 2 miles south of Rte 195 (Exit 60). From points south, it is approx. 1 mile north of Rte 130 (Exit 57)

There is parking on both sides of 295. The overlook itself is on the southbound side. For those parking on the northbound side, this is accessible by crossing 295 via the overhead walkway.
