FIELD TRIP SCHEDULE
January 6, 2001
FLORENCE, NJ for some of the best gull watching in the east. White-wing
gulls, Lesser Black-backs, and a search for Yellow-legged Gull. Meet at the
boat ramp at 9AM.

2001 MONTAUK (LONG ISLAND), NY for winter finches, eiders, scoters, alcids
and any Eurasian accidentals. Car pool from N.E. Phila at 6AM. Space is limited
due to lodging constraints first come, first served! Max. 16

Highlights reported: - Red-necked Grebe, Gannets, Tufted Duck, Barrow's Golden Eye, Harlequin Duck, Common Eider, Wood Duck. Oystercatchers, Lesser BB Gull, Glaucous Gull, Iceland Gull, Razorbill, Snowy Owl, Hermit Thrush, Waxwings, Dickcissel, Snow Bunting, Lapland Longspur and Boat Tailed Grackles

PELAGIC out of CAPE MAY, NJ on the Miss Chris in Jersey and
Delaware waters, looking for alcids, skuas and fulmars. 5AM to 5PM Great Skua
and Thick-billed Murre have been seen at least once. In 1998 2 Northern Right
Whales. (Run on March 11, March 4 cancelled for bad weather). Max. 40 people

in the morning and a search for Bicknells in the afternoon.

WHITE CLAY CREEK, DE. : Meet at the Hot Shoppes Rest Area on Rte I-95 south
of Wilmington, between exits for Rtes 273 & 896 at 6:00AM.Nesting Cerulean
Warblers are possible along with Hooded Warbler, Pileated Woodpecker and Willow
Flycatcher. Last year White-winged Crossbills!

2001 ALL NIGHT PELAGIC aboard the 95 catamaran Miss Barnegat
Light to Hudson and Toms Canyon. Depart Friday evening at 10pm from
Barnegat Light, NJ and returning Saturday afternoon at 3pm. Shearwaters,
3 Jaegers, South Polar and Great Skua, Black-capped Petrel, Sooty and Bridled
Tern as well as 3 Storm-Petrels are possible. European Storm-Petrel was seen

2001 - NEW JERSEY PELAGIC, Brielle: onboard the Atlantis, to
the Hudson Canyon at the prime time for Long-tailed Jaegers during their southbound
migration. All 3 species of Jaegers and South Polar Skua are possible as well
as Shearwaters and Storm-Petrels. Bridled Terns were seen in 2000. 5AM-9PM.
Cost: $75.

2001 - FALL BIRDING at the PALMYRA COVE NATURE PARK, PALMYRA, NJ. : Anything
is possible at this great location, but the focus will be on migrating warblers
and sparrows. Meet at 7 AM in the car park.

Oct 1, 2001 VERACRUZ, Mexico Join Kevin Karlsons Jaeger Tours, for
the spectacular River of Raptors, along with over 260 species seen
in 2000, including Aplomado Falcon, Blue-crowned Motmot, Red Warbler and Slate-throated
Redstart. There will also be an optional extension to the Catemaco Rainforest,
Sept 21-23 Space limited. Cost : $1995 plus cost of extension to Catemaco, T.B.A.

2001 TUCKERTON MARSHES, NJ for Sharp-tailed Sparrows, with great comparison
of all races of Nelsons as well as Salt Marsh Sharp-tails. A walk
along Seven Bridges road, is likely to add another a dozen sparrow species.
Meet at the end of Seven Bridges Road at 7:30AM sharp!
