Carpenter's Woods
A small but intrepid group of 4 participants and 2 co-leaders searched Carpenter's Woods for birds this morning, The cold, rain, winds and dearth of migrants were challenging. Our total of 27 species (more heard than seen, and only 3 warblers) included a mere 4 still traveling North: Canada and Blackpoll Warblers, and Swainson's and Gray-cheeked Thrushes. This is probably a record low for Carpenter's Woods in the middle of May.
Your co-leaders can only apologize profusely, and say the birding
here was better yesterday, and will probably be really good tomorrow.
