Well, I outsmarted myself this year. I decided the winds would be right for Saturday, October 30th but I was wrong. The winds were from the southwest and we had to use the South Lookout.

Most of the day was on the slow side. We did see eight Common Ravens and an equal number of Black Vultures. Amongst the harriers was a well-seen male. A Northern Rough-winged Swallow and a Yellow-rumped Warbler were new for the 6-year trip summary. Some Common Loons flew over, and Bill Keim had a Pileated Woodpecker on the way up.

All was not lost. Just after 2:00 PM, we enjoyed great looks at an immature Golden Eagle, and about 10 minutes later, a young Northern Goshawk flew by.

Participants in addition to myself and Bill were Bob Horton, Dan Efroymson, and Mary Bowler.
