John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum, PA
The DVOC met at 8.00 am Sunday for a field-trip to the John
Heinz NWR. There were five members and four guests. We were joined by the regular
walk at Tinicum at 9 am that included ten more guests when there was a mix up
in the refuge's schedule. Inviting the people to join us was a great way to
introduce the Delaware Valley Ornithological Club to the public. This was a
large group so Lynn Roman agreed
to help me co-lead the field-trip. We made our way to the frog pond, the boat
landing, Warbler woods and across the large board walk to the observation tower.
We birded our way back to the parking lot and finished up at noon. The great
weather rose to 70 + degrees. Our group saw 44 species of birds.
