John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum, PA
Our group met at the refuge at 8.00 am and birded until noon.
The weather was cool, however, it soon warmed up to be a great fall day. We
birded from the parking lot down the Dike Trail to the Observation Platform
and back, a distance of about three miles. Seven members of the DVOC and eight
guests came on the walk. We had a total of 45 bird species including an American
Bittern seen by several of our members. Frank Windfelder came on the walk and
thankfully provided us with a wealth of information and a great sense of humor.
Participants from the DVOC including myself were Cliff Hence, Judy Stephenaski,
Sara Besadny, Barbara Thorpe, Barbara Hiebsch and Frank Windfelder.
